We are the only supplier in the oil industry with a proven track record of inline separation equipment and the only separation company with installed commercial subsea separation systems. Our separation technology, research and development, modeling techniques and in-house testing facilities all embody the CDS approach: to couple full understanding of the production process with continuous innovation. Use of our high-performance subsea and topside technology increases throughput, cuts operating costs, and prolongs the life of field. The excellent return on investment is further enhanced by weight and space savings as well as minimized downtime. For all these reasons, we are the supplier that major oil companies contact with their most challenging projects.

InLine Technologies

Our InLine products can be combined to suit all conditions and separation requirements. The highly efficient compact separators based on cyclonic and electrostatic technologies cover all aspects of primary separation: gas, oil, water and sand. Together they allow operators to achieve complete line phase separation by using pipe segments, replacing conventional technology that requires several large vessels to do the same job.

Key Characteristics

• Highly efficient separation, either by high G-forces caused by cyclonic flow or enhanced separation caused by electrostatic coalescence
• Ultra-compact separation in pipe segments
• Effective debottlenecking to increase production capacity of existing processes
• Compact separation systems for new-build production systems

The InLine Technology has been developed over several years, in close cooperation with Statoil as technology development partner and first user for several of the technologies. As a result, we can offer a complete portfolio of inline separation technologies for primary separation.

High Performance Internals

Our extensive portfolio of high performance internals is aimed to maximize the capacity and increase the efficiency of a separator vessel to make it perform at its best. Troubleshooting and debottlenecking of separation processes by use of these internals increase the throughput and efficiency of existing production trains. New built vessels can be reduced in size compared to conventional separators. The results are performance improvement, problem-free operation, reduction in capital and operational expenditure, and increase in profits.

Through analytical calculations, based on test results at actual conditions with real test fluids and gases, the suitability of the separation internals chosen is verified. The verification is much more than an evaluation of gas- and liquid load and includes residence time calculations, gravity knock-out calculations, flow regime analysis and evaluation of overall separation performance. If this concludes that the process design for the separation internals will be critical, it is often advised to perform a CFD study in order to carefully review how critical the design is in order to visualize the flow dynamics and understand the real bottlenecks. The output is used to fine-tune the analytical design approach and ensure an adequate and functional design that meets the specifications as promised.

Special Separator Solutions

Subsea separation projects experience numerous challenges with regards to equipment design and efficiency both during installation and operation. With our compact separators, efficient separation is achieved as a part of the subsea separation system; performing primary separation at the seabed thus reducing the topside footprint, increasing the oil recovery rate and total oil production. The special separator solution can be combined with other compact CDS equipment to achieve secondary separation.

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

Analysis, design, extensive testing and optimization are critical steps to the overall separation process. CFD is our main tool for analyzing and predicting fluids behavior in all our separation products. The result is a cost-efficient way of achieving better and more accurate designs without having to resort to expensive and long prototyping cycles.

Benefits

• Troubleshooting installed separation configurations
• Achieving a better understanding of fluids behavior inside the separation equipment under real operating conditions
• Optimizing and fine tuning designs prior to manufacturing
